Jessy Servi Ortiz

Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council Managing Director

Jessy has been in working in sustainability for over a decade. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, business was the dialect and became the path to leveraging change. With a diverse background in design and project management, business and systems thinking, as well as regenerative agriculture she earned her MBA in 2013 with a focus on sustainable business management.

In 2012 she began as sustainability manager at Outpost Natural Foods in Milwaukee where she designed and managed their sustainability strategy, employee and stakeholder engagement, sustainability communication and collaborated across departments to develop, track and oversee sustainability KPIs for distribution, sourcing, energy, climate change, water, waste management, packaging, labor, animal care, consumer education, governance and community. At Outpost, she was a part of the strategic team and helped facilitate ongoing business planning.

Now, as the Managing Director of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council (WSBC), she is the key orchestrator of WSBC’s programs, events and resources supporting businesses in integrating sustainability, reducing negative impact, enhancing positive impact and improving business outcomes.  WSBC’s mission is to advance sustainable principles and practices forward through the power of business and their vision is that all businesses in Wisconsin (and beyond) are adopting sustainable business models and transforming the way we do business, for the better.

Jessy has experience in program development and facilitation and held businesses of her own. She is a co-founder and co-chair of the (Wisconsin) Women in Sustainability group, a network of professionals working to advance social and environmental sustainability while fostering collaboration and inclusivity. She also serves as an advisor to the UW Sustainable Management Program through UW Extended Campus. She is a fellow from New Leaders Council inaugural class in Madison in 2014 and she holds certificates in Lean Process, Professional Coaching, Permaculture and Regenerative Design. She has won numerous honors and awards for her work.

When not at work, Jessy enjoys spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, traveling, gardening or snowboarding (depending on the season!)
