Carolyn Haney has spent her career as a nurse and then an accountant, but has always had a fascination for manufacturing.
Carolyn grew up getting a bird’s eye view of the small business operated by her father.
“My father was a self-employed electrician and owned a small hardware store and I believe an organization like the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership that assists small businesses would have helped him to be more profitable and efficient,” she said. “It was a wonderful experience to grow up behind the counter of a small business. It started my life with a great understanding of customer service and helping others.”
Prior to being a stay-at-home mother, Carolyn spent 16 years working in accounting for various businesses, including a law firm, healthcare insurance, a technical college and a large public accounting firm. She started her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse working in a hospital setting.
She was raised in Oakland, Illinois, a small farming community in east central Illinois. She later lived in both the Chicago and Los Angeles areas but found smaller city life more to her liking. She graduated with an MBA from Eastern Illinois University and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. Carolyn is an Illinois registered CPA.
At the WMEP, Carolyn works as an accountant assisting the controller with accounts receivable and accounts payable.
She currently resides in Sun Prairie with her husband, H.J., who works at the Loyola University in Chicago, and their son, Ryan, who attends Edgewood High School, Madison.
Carolyn enjoys bicycling, hiking, golfing and landscape quilting.
