In this webinar, Bob Willard, author of The Sustainability Advantage, will demonstrate some of his open source sustainability tools and worksheets. Specifically, he will show how to estimate the magnitude of cost savings and profit improvement you can achieve in your business through the implementation of basic sustainable principles. The calculator utilizes baseline assumptions about energy and material savings, productivity and risk avoidance. You will be able to adjust the percent improvement for each category to match your business comfort level. Bob will also highlight how to use the Dashboard’s companion worksheets as well and field specific questions you have to your company.
Bob Willard – Bob is a leading expert on quantifying and selling the business value of corporate sustainability strategies and has given over 1,300 presentations to corporate, government, university, and NGO audiences. Bob applies his business and leadership experience from his 34-year career at IBM Canada to engage the business community in proactively avoiding risks and capturing opportunities by using smart environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies.
He has authored six books: The Sustainability Advantage (2002), The Next Sustainability Wave (2005), The Sustainability Champion’s Guidebook (2009), The New Sustainability Advantage (2012), Future-Fit Business Benchmark (co-authored Release 1, 2016), and the free, open-source Sustainability ROI Workbook (2017). His extensive Master Slide Decks, toolkits, templates and videos provide further capacity-building resources for sustainability champions.
Bob serves on the board of the Future-Fit Foundation and the B Corp Standards Advisory Council. He was one of five inaugural inductees into the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) Hall of Fame in 2011, received Clean50 awards in 2015 and 2017, and has earned six “Best for the World – Overall” and five “Best for the World – Community” awards since becoming a Certified B Corp in 2012. He is an ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional, is a Future-Fit Certified Professional and Accredited Partner, and received a PhD in sustainability from the University of Toronto in 2005.
Jessy Servi-Ortiz, WSBC Managing Director – Moderator – Jessy has been in working in sustainability for over a decade. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, business was the dialect and became the path to leveraging change. With a diverse background in design and project management, business and systems thinking, as well as regenerative agriculture she earned her MBA in 2013 with a focus on sustainable business management.
In 2012 she began as sustainability manager at Outpost Natural Foods in Milwaukee where she designed and managed their sustainability strategy, employee and stakeholder engagement, sustainability communication and collaborated across departments to develop, track and oversee sustainability KPIs for distribution, sourcing, energy, climate change, water, waste management, packaging, labor, animal care, consumer education, governance and community. At Outpost, she was a part of the strategic team and helped facilitate ongoing business planning.
Now, as the Managing Director of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council (WSBC), she is the key orchestrator of WSBC’s programs, events and resources supporting businesses in integrating sustainability, reducing negative impact, enhancing positive impact and improving business outcomes. WSBC’s mission is to advance sustainable principles and practices forward through the power of business and their vision is that all businesses in Wisconsin (and beyond) are adopting sustainable business models and transforming the way we do business, for the better.
Randy Bertram, Director of Sustainability Services – As a Senior Consultant with WMEP, Randy brings more than 40 years of leadership, industrial engineering, quality, plant, operations, consulting, project and program management experience across a wide array of industry types and size.
In 2010 he launched WMEP’s award winning Profitable Sustainability Initiative (PSI) helping manufacturers establish a connection between higher profit and improved environmental outcomes. PSI has served hundreds of Wisconsin manufacturers and has expanded WMEP’s competencies and capabilities to include; sustainable practices, energy conservation and water stewardship. He led WMEP’s 2019 acquisition of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council further strengthening WMEP’s leadership position in providing sustainability services.
