Statistics show that trade is increasingly important in Wisconsin’s economy:

Over 6,500 companies exported from Wisconsin locations in 2007

About 87% of these firms, which account for 27% of the state’s total exports, were small to mid-sized firms that have fewer than 500 employees.

68% of all WI exporters were small firms with less than 100 workers.

Approximately 180,000 Wisconsin jobs are due to exports and international trade.

The benefits of exporting include:

Businesses that export enjoy faster sales growth and employment gains than non-exporters
Jobs supported by exports of goods pay 13 to 18 percent more than the national average
Firms that export are less likely to fail
We’re competing in a global market--whether you export or not
