Assistance through Regional Economic Development Organizations

According to the EDA's website, the Economic Development Administration's mission is: "To lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy."

Wisconsin has several regional offices that exist to carry out that mission:

7 Rivers Alliance

The 7 Rivers Alliance is a regional economic development organization covering the labor-shed centering around La Crosse, WI including western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. Their focus is on business attraction, growth and startup of businesses in the region’s key industries: composites, metal manufacturing, healthcare, and food processing by connecting the organizations with resources, inspiring innovation and strengthening the region.

Centergy (Central WI Alliance for Economic Development)

Centergy serves as a central resource, bringing together the efforts of many entities, and providing a unified voice to be heard by our state and local governments and the greater business community. Our work continues, to encourage business cluster development, support local businesses, attract new businesses, achieve growth for our higher education facilities, and improve life in general for all central Wisconsin residents.

Greater Outagamie Economic Development Corporation

The mission of the Greater Outagamie Economic Development Corporation is to enhance economic development activities through a collaborative effort with the rural municipalities and businesses of Outagamie county that results in the retention and strengthening of existing businesses, the identification of new opportunities, and the formation of new businesses to fill those opportunities.

Kenosha Area Business Alliance

The Kenosha Area Business Alliance (KABA) is Kenosha County’s economic development organization and employers association. KABA provides a range of economic development and business services to its over 300 member investors and to prospective members as well. KABA manages a portfolio of economic development revolving loan funds that are used to provide low-interest loans to new and expanding businesses to support job creation. Additionally, KABA serves as a clearing house for site selection and economic information. KABA also delivers a number of training programs designed to upgrade the skills of area workers.

Through its education foundation, KABA plays an active role in the Kenosha area’s education system including an elementary school mentoring program, annual scholarship awards, and support for various technology-related initiatives.

Lafayette Development Corporation

The Lafayette Development Corporation is a non-profit economic development organization committed to assisting the communities of Lafayette County in their efforts to retain current businesses and the development of new business and industry.

Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation

The Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation's mission is to aid business expansion to grow our economy through the creation and retention of jobs and by increasing the property tax base. The corporation uses its loan capital to provide business loans and assist in the financing of projects that achieve that objective.

The New North

New North, Inc. is a consortium of business, economic development, chambers of commerce, workforce development, civic, non-profit, and education leaders in 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin who are working to be recognized as competitive for job growth while maintaining our superior quality of life.

Ozakee County Economic Development Corporation (OED)

The Ozaukee County Economic Development Corporation (OED) advances the business prosperity and economy of Ozaukee County in collaboration with community, regional and business partners.

Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC)

The Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC) is a private, non-profit organization created in 1983 to build and maintain a strong economic base in Racine County.

The mission of the RCEDC is to foster the economic vitality of Racine County by working with our partners to support innovation and creativity that leads to business investment.

Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation 

The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation is a countywide private/public partnership, leading economic development efforts to improve the economic well-being and long-term prosperity of the businesses, residents, and communities of Sheboygan County, through collaborative retention, expansion, and attraction efforts for business and employment development

Tri-County Regional Economic Development Corporation

The Tri-County Regional Economic Development Corporation, based in Neshkoro, WI, is a non-profit organization seeking to revitalize the economy and business opportunities in Green Lake, Marquette and Waushara counties.

Urban Economic Development Association of Wisconsin

UEDA supports housing and economic development initiatives that revitalize Wisconsin communities. We build capacity in the housing and economic development field through professional training, innovative solutions, policy advocacy and collaboration.

Walworth County Economic Development Alliance

The Walworth County Economic Development Alliance assists business expansion in Walworth County.

Wisconsin Economic Development Assocation (WEDA)

WEDA is Wisconsin's Voice for Economic Development. Our statewide association is a 450+ member organization whose primary objective is to increase the effectiveness of individuals involved in the practice of economic development in Wisconsin by encouraging cooperation, exchange of information and promotion of professional skills. With a proactive board and involved membership support, we will continue to advance the professionalism of Wisconsin's economic development efforts.
